The Day of Intravital Microscopy is an annual meeting organized by the workgroup “Intravital Microscopy” of the GerBi e.V. This group was founded at the 7th GerBi Annual Community Meeting in Fulda 2016. It has since then been fostering and enabling professional exchange and interaction between scientists and facility staff performing intravital microscopy (IVM).
Since our first successful meeting in Dresden 2018, we aim to organize an annual networking conference for practical performers of intravital microscopy techniques, be it PhD students, postdocs or facility staff. Technique and skill exchanges are the key focus of the meeting, with lectures and scientific talks connected to interactive round table discussion workshops. These in particular are highly valued by the community and can be used as a flexible forum to discuss practical aspects and problems performers of this method are often facing solitary at their respective sites. Part of our concept is the well received “poster and beer” session in the evening, combining social get together and networking with the opportunity to present and discuss, explicitly asking company representativse for active participations.
Our meetings in presence have so far been visited by 40-50 participants each, forming lasting connections between individuals and institutions.
