General outreach events
Microscopy is a fascinating field that sparks curiosity in people of all ages, and GerBI-GMB is dedicated to bringing the wonders of microscopy to the public through various outreach initiatives. These events aim to educate and engage the community by showcasing the incredible world of microscopes, imaging techniques, and the work of microscopists. GerBI-GMB member core facilities actively participate in outreach events like the Maus Türöffner-Tag and open microscopy center days, providing the public with an exclusive look behind the scenes of Germany’s top imaging facilities and research groups. These events offer a hands-on opportunity to explore the technology and research shaping the future of science.
Maus Türöffner-Tag
Every year on October 3rd, GerBI-GMB members join the Maus Türöffner-Tag, organized by the popular German TV show Die Sendung mit der Maus. On this day, children are invited to visit universities, core facilities, and institutes to learn about fluorescence and microscopy in a fun and engaging way. The event encourages young minds to explore science through interactive experiments and activities. GerBI-GMB provides a wide range of educational materials and ideas and protocols for experiments for kids, fostering curiosity and inspiring the next generation of scientists.
