Internal GerBI-GMB educational programs
Job Shadowing
The Job Shadowing initiative promotes visits of Core Facility staff members to other Core Facilities to learn more about:
- Operation procedures of facilities
- Teaching activities of core facilities
- Specific imaging or image processing techniques
If you would like to visit a core facility within the GerBI-GMB job shadowing initiative, please contact the GerBI-GMB office. GerBI-GMB covers travelling and accomodation costs for the time of the job shadowing stay.
As an inspiration, read more about GerBI member Christian Peukert’s job shadowing stay in Dresden (2022) here.
One Place for GerBI-GMB Initiative
The One Place for GerBI initiative enables interested scientists to take part in a training course provided by core facilities or research groups outside their own institution. GerBI-GMB serves as a platform to bring together course providers and applicants and will also offer travel grants. If you are interested in the programme, please contact the GerBI-GMB office.
Rent-the-trainer
Following the very successful project BIN-BW (BioimageNet-Baden Württemberg), which was generously supported by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of Baden Württemberg, German BioImaging now launches the “GerBI-GMB Rent-the-trainer” program.
For three years, BIN-BW funded a bioimage analyst who visited University core facilities in the state of Baden-Württemberg and offered basic and advanced courses in ImageJ/Fiji, a widely used open source image analysis software. During the final period of the project, the offer was extended to imaging core facilities across Germany, who are a member in GerBI-GMB.
The GerBI-GMB Rent-the-trainer programme will adopt the same format as practised during BIN-BW. It will cover the travelling and accommodation costs for an image analyst who brings and distributes training and expertise in biological image analysis directly to imaging core facilities. The GerBI-GMB office can also support the hosting core facility in organising the visits. If you are interested in the programme, please contact the GerBI-GMB office.
