Mission

The establishment of core facilities and technology platforms at research institutes offers scientists access to sophisticated technologies and equipment. With appropriate management concepts, the shared use of resources and effective utilization leads to an overall improved research infrastructure. However, new challenges need to be faced in order to manage such facilities on the long run. Our group is working on legal frameworks and financing strategies to show how technology platforms can be operated sustainably in Germany.

Ulm Meetings
There is no doubt about the big advantages of core facilities and technology platforms at research institutes to offer scientists sophisticated technologies and dedicated service on the equipment. But the challenge arises how to manage and operate these facilities in a legal and sustainable fashion. In Ulm, with Julia Nagy as main organizer, we show possible strategies and bring together facility managers from all different cores, science managers, institute’s administration and funding agencies.
