3rd Day of Intravital Microscopy

Magdeburg, 23rd/24th of October 2023

After a very successful first meeting in 2018 in Dresden and an equally well recepted second event 2019 in Marburg, the Work Group 8 „Intravital Microscopy“ of German BioImaging e.V. decided to regularily organize an annual event. Unfortunately, the global COVID pandemic stopped us in our tracks in 2020 and the following years. We were therefore delighted to be able to finally host our 3rd meeting in presence this year – looking forward to meet old friends, extend our network by new acquaintances and keep ourself up-to-date with the latest developments in the field of mouse intravital microscopy (IvMic).

Fortunately, practitioners and enthusiasts in the field of IvMic shared our dedication and flocked to the meeting at the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology (LIN) in Magdeburg, making it our biggest meeting so far: 71 registered participants  doubled the size compared to our previous events, some even joining our community from as far as the US west coast. We were also able to convince a total of 11 sponsors to support our conference with an industry venue this year.

The program included excellent talks from renowned scientists in the field of immunology, neuroscience,  image analysis  and bio-photonics, interactive round table discussions, an evening poster walk, an extensive industry exhibition – including 5 demo microscopes – and guided tours through the impressive local LIN Imaging facilites. Networking was extensive, with very intense discussions taking place in a friendly, familiar atmosphere everywhere – in the talk sessions, in between the posters and during the excellent buffet in the middle of the industry exhibition.

The organizers want to thank all participants for the interactive and open attitude and all speakers for sharing their work and thoughts with us.
