Technology Platform Microscopy and Image Analysis (TP MIA) at the Leibniz Institute of Virology (LIV)
The technology platform “Microscopy and Image Analysis” (TP MIA) at the Leibniz Institute of Virology (LIV) provides state-of-the-art light and electron microscopy methods (LM and EM) and correlative techniques. The TP MIA serves as the imaging center of the Leibniz Center Infection (LCI), which comprises the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM), the Research Center Borstel – Leibniz Lung Center (FZB), and the Leibniz Institute of Virology (LIV). In addition, TP MIA is a Nikon Center of Excellence and maintains a collaboration with the electron microscope manufacturer Tescan as a reference lab. The main tasks of the TP MIA are guidance, training and support of microscopy users as well as assistance in data analysis. As a research-driven unit, the TP MIA develops and adapts preparation and imaging techniques tailored to the users´ scientific questions. It is specialized in integrative workflows for the correlation of multimodal images over a wide range of complexities.
