Intravital microscopy (IVM) enables the observation and precise quantification of cellular processes within native tissue microenvironments, with resolutions unmatched by other techniques. This powerful approach has become indispensable for studying cell dynamics in tissue contexts, including cancer, metabolic disorders, neurological and immunological interactions, infectious diseases or developmental processes.
The Day of Intravital Microscopy is an annual meeting organized by the workgroup “Intravital Microscopy” of the German Bioimaging Society (GerBI e.V.). The group promotes professional exchange and interaction between scientists and facility staff working in intravital microscopy (IVM). The 5th Day of Intravital Microscopy will be organized in collaboration with the Multiscale Immunoimaging Team from the Werner Siemens Imaging Center and will take place on September 18. – 19., 2025 in Tübingen, Germany.
Following the success of previous events, the 5th edition aims once again to bring together scientists at all career levels, facility staff, companies and software developers. The program includes lectures, interactive discussions, and workshops, providing a flexible forum to discuss new technical developments, practical aspects, and challenges in the field of IVM. A key feature of the meeting is a “poster and beer” evening session, combining social interaction, scientific exchange and networking in an informal setting.
The value of this meeting is reflected in the high level of engagement of the community. Past events have attracted 70 to 90 participants, representing a significant portion of the intravital microscopy experts across Germany. This year, we are expanding our reach to the DACH region and beyond, to include international IVM experts.

Please note: Hotel booking is your responsibility and will not be handled by us. Further note that the Umbrisch-Provenzalische Market will take place at the same time – we recommend booking your accommodation well in advance. Thank you for your understanding!
Tübingen is a small university town, and by now it is likely that most hotels in the city are already fully booked. In Tübingen, you could try getting a room at the IBIS Hotel in Tübingen – they might still have availability. If you do not find a room in Tübingen, we suggest the following alternatives nearby:
Reutlingen (ca, 10 min by train)
If hotels in Tübingen are fully booked, Reutlingen is the best nearby alternative. From Reutlingen main station, it is a 10-minute train ride to Tübingen. From Tübingen station it is only a 10-minute walk to the Alte Aula.
Aspire Elements Reutlingen, Trademark Collection by Wyndham Kaiserpassage 5, 72764 Reutlingen
Stuttgart Airport Hotels
For participants arriving by plane, hotels directly at Stuttgart Airport may be a good option. We will arrange a shuttle service between the airport hotels and the conference venue in Tübingen (20 min shuttle ride to Tübingen).
Das Kaya Hotel Stuttgart Airport Messe Johannesstraße 21, 70794 Filderstadt (100 m from S-Bahn station Filderstadt)
Pliezhausen
Hotels in Pliezhausen offer another alternative, located closer than the airport and particularly convenient if you travel by car. While public transport connections from Stuttgart main station or the airport are limited, we can provide shuttle transfers from Pliezhausen to the conference venue (20 min shuttle ride to Tübingen).
