New Project: Improving Sharing of Services Across Research Institutions (Open Position!)
GerBI has been awarded funding by the VolkswagenStiftung for an innovative 24-month project addressing a critical challenge in the German research landscape: cross-institutional sharing of research equipment and services.
Despite significant potential, the exchange of research infrastructure across institutions often fails due to complex legal, administrative, and financial barriers. The project, titled “Nachhaltiger und koordinierter Leistungsaustausch in der Forschung” (Sustainable and Coordinated Exchange of services in Research), aims to overcome these obstacles by consolidating practical knowledge from GerBI’s network of over 300 members and beyond, spanning academia, core facilities, and industry.
Project Goals
The initiative will systematically collect best practices, develop transferable standard models, and create practical guidance documents and model contracts for cross-institutional service exchanges. The results will be published as accessible handbooks and policy recommendations, benefiting both core facility managers and researchers seeking equipment access.
💡 Have you made cross-institutional services exchange work for your institution? Or did you already unsuccessfully try? Tell us your story and become a cooperation partner for the project! Please reach out to office@gerbi-gmb.de and help us to complete the picture.
