GerBI Team Meeting in Heidelberg: Focusing on Vision and Mission

Heidelberg, November 4, 2025 – Last week, the GerBI team gathered for an intensive exchange at the Max Planck Institute (MPI) for medical research and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg.

Overlooking the autumnal beauty of Heidelberg, the board and team discussed the future of the German Society for BioImaging.

Vision and Mission Based on the “Golden Circle” Model

The meeting centered on reviewing a coaching session on Simon Sinek’s “Golden Circle” model*, which helps us to define the core principles of GerBI:

Vision (“Why?”) – The overarching goal that guides all activities.

Mission (“What?”) – The framework for how GerBI operates, including its values and principles.

We are now working to translate these insights into concise statements and develop a strategy („How?) to be finalized and presented by the 2026 Community Meeting.

Welcoming New Team Members

The event also provided an opportunity to welcome our new team members Lisa-Marie Schaefer, Christa Walther and Johannes Soltwedel, who—just like the entire GerBI community—are spread across Germany and beyond.

Special thanks to Elisa D’Este (MPI) and Stefan Terjung (EMBL) for their hospitality and inspiring setting.

We look forward to sharing the results with our community and shaping the future of GerBI together!
